Amy Robinson is studying to become a chazzan at the Academy for Jewish Religion in Los Angeles. An accomplished musician, songwriter and choir leader, Amy leads regular one-hour music-based Prayersong meditation sessions, based on original chants that she has written or adapted, at Congregation B’nai Israel in Tustin, CA, and Temple Beth El in Aliso Viejo, CA. She is the creator, director and primary arranger for two a capella community choirs in Orange County, Shir Energy and Kol HaKavod. Amy has performed with Craig Taubman at Sinai Temple’s Friday Night Live in L.A., has served as shaliach tzibbur at Temple Beth El in Aliso Viejo, CA, and is an active song leader at the Nefesh Minyan and Congregation B’nai Israel of Tustin. Amy has a deep love of sacred text and approaches davening with the goal of connecting those around her to the joy, mystery and majesty of the Jewish tradition. She released Prayersong, her first album of original music, in December 2011.
